The International Festival of Animated Objects is seeking new members for our board to provide support and insight to our organization.
Who we are:
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting mask & puppet related performance. As an incubator and producer of mask, puppetry, and animated objects we are the primary curator and presenter of local, national and international puppetry. We strive to provide Alberta audiences with the chance to experience the breadth and diversity of these innovative art forms.
Vital to the development of puppetry as an art form, the festival not only provides a stage for Alberta creators to showcase their work but is also a forum for an international exchange of ideas providing learning opportunities for professional and emerging artists and the public at large to find expression through animated objects.
We are looking for folks who will:
Attend four board meetings annually
Participate in some or all of the following: fundraising, public outreach, event planning, attending events, etc.
Support and enjoy the annual Festival of Animated Objects
And identify as one or more of the following:
Familiar with governance or volunteerism in the not-for-profit sector
Aware of the arts landscape in Calgary
Experience with some of these areas: EDIA, strategy, planning, budgeting, arts leadership, artistic creation, legal, HR, finance.
Available to commit to board meetings and participation in ongoing board activities
Interested in attending volunteer and arts events throughout the year
Key responsibilities of the Board of Directors include:
Ensure strong financial management
Approve and monitor IFAOS’ programs and services
Know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs
Serve as advocates and ambassadors for the organization
Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing
